One of the huge TaylorMade success stories of 2020 was the introduction of hybrid clubs into the bags of a number of top PGA Tour professionals including Rory and Dustin Johnson. Rescue/hybrid/utility clubs can be a great addition to any golfer’s bag as a replacement for historically difficult to use long irons but also as fairway wood replacements.
The SIM2 hybrid has been designed with the idea of removing the choice between distance and control in a hybrid club by giving the golfer both! What we see is an updated version of the V steel technology used in previous models to lower CG and improve turf interaction even further. There is also a forged steel Twist Face backed up by an asymmetric speed slot that helps preserve ball speed especially on low face ball strikes. There is also a welcome return to hosel adjustability giving loft options to golfers which is great as players look to perfectly gap the clubs in their bag.
Who is the Sim 2 Rescue Club For?
There are only three loft options (17, 19.5 and 22) but with adjustability 1.5 degrees either way, the club can be very versatile. Plenty of custom shaft and grip options too. I would say we’re finally in the position of offering a hybrid to all players across ability levels and please do not hesitate to consult one of our dedicated PGA professionals who can advise you on how to get this into your bag.
