TaylorMade’s New 2019 Irons are Pushing the Limits

This season TaylorMade are pushing the boundaries and skirting the legal limits of golf club speed through the use of cutting edge development. The theme of all out speed is carried through from the 2019 metalwoods to this year’s M5 and M6 Irons. The most noticeable improvement is the revolutionary new Speed Bridge that connects the topline to the back bar, spanning the cavity back without adding significant amounts of weight. The engineers at TaylorMade used computer models to determine the optimum position for the Speed Bridge to give maximum stability and absorb the highest amount of vibration. This new method improves the sound and feel of the M5 and M6 irons and adds all important ball speed.

Fresh Design Innovation

The Speed Pocket is back for 2019 because it has proven so very successful in past clubs. This time around the design has been further improved thanks to the Speed Bridge allowing for a “thru-slot”. These two technologies work together to deliver maximum speed and distance across the whole club face but particularly on the lower portion of the clubface.

The M5 irons (and the M6 irons) have something entirely new for 2019 in the Hybrar Compression Damper. This addition is all about the sound and feel of the iron on contact with the ball. The added stiffness in the topline of the club has pushed the deflection point lower on the club. This point is perfectly aligned with the Hybrar dampener so that is immediately absorbs any unwanted or excess vibration making the club sound and feel super secure and smooth.

M5 Irons - Playable and Forgiving

Let’s face it, these 2019 M5 irons are gorgeous. A sleek, refined package that is perfectly optimised for accuracy and distance while being perfectly playable and forgiving. This is a gam improvement iron that is fully loaded with technology but feels incredibly natural and responsive. The M5 irons benefit from the new refinements but are backed up with tried and tested TaylorMade technology such as the Inverted Cone, 360° Undercuts with stiffening topline ribs and a Fluted Hosel.

The 2019 M6 irons are a joy to behold with a shape that inspires confidence at address and more on board technology that most golfers thought possible. The Speed Bridge spans a deep undercut cavity to provide crucial stiffness while delivering distance and forgiveness.

When Can You Buy the New M5 and M6 Irons

Available for preorder on January 14 and at retail beginning February 15 2019, the M5 irons 7 club set has an RRP of £999 steel or £1,199 graphite while the M6 irons are a 7 club set at an RRP of £849 for steel or £999 for graphite. M5 come in 4-9iron, PW, SW and are equipped with True Temper’s XP100 steel (S, R) or Mitsubishi’s Tensei Orange graphite (S, R). The M6 irons are available in 4-9iron, PW, SW & LW and come equipped with KBS Max 85 steel shafts (S, R) or Fujikura’s ATMOS Orange graphite shafts (7S, 6R & 5A). For women, the M6 irons will come equipped with the TaylorMade Tuned Performance shaft.
