The King of Speed is Back with the F9 Speedback
The latest and fastest clubs from Cobra Golf are now here and they live up to every hyperbolic claim made by the manufacturer. Designers, engineers and pro golfers have worked together to innovate and create a set of clubs that goes more than a step forward from the King F8 drivers, F8 Fairway Woods, F8 Hybrids and F8 Irons. Combitnations of precision CNC milling, high modulus carbon composites and all out aerodynamics can be seen across the whole club set but none of these techniques and technologies have been included for show. King F9 Drivers
Cobra beleive they have hit upon the perfefct formula for speed and looking at the technology onboard the F9 Speedback Driver it is a hard point to argue. One of the most striking aspects of this new driver is also the most visually obvious. For anyone with half an idea about aerodynamic the most simple theory is "blunt at the front" meaning the front end can be flatter as long as the tail end deals with the inevitable vortices that produce drag by introducing areas of extreme low pressure that pull the club back. The rounded crown and rounded frontal perimeter give way to a raised tail end that serves to reduce the total drag to produce higer club speed.
F9 Speedback Fairway Woods
Serious ball speed is a great way to explain and introduce the new King F9 Speedback Fairway Woods. For the first time ever Cobra have fitted a precision CNC milled 475 stainless steel face insert into a fairway wood and the result is nothing short of incredible. CNC milling is an engineering technique that allows the metal to essentially be carved to incredibly small tolerances that are simply not possible with a human eye or hand. Each milled face is more consistent so no matter when the club came off the production line or which fairway you select you can expect the exact same level of performance. Add in the tungsten Baffler technology that lowers CoG and improves stability and you have an incredible package.
F9 Speed Back Hybrids
The new King F9 Speedback hybrid golf clubs are Cobra's best yet for rescuing your shot from tricky lies and bridging the gap to the green. Baffler technology is back but this time in conjuction with Speedback to not only give smooth turf interaction but to increase ball speed and distance no matter the lie. One of the most obvious changes to this generation of King hybrids is the larger club head. 2019's F9 hybrid is 10% larger which gives a considerable increase to MOI and forgiveness while also making it easier to align the club for the perfect shot. The club face has been forged from high strength 455 stainless steel which has a high degree of flex with a strong rebound to deliver high ball speed.
Cobra F9 Speedback Irons
The 2019 Cobra F9 Speedback Irons are being lauded as the most powerful, stable and accurate iron the company has ever produced. The reason for the increase in stability lies in additional mass that has been added using a belt of steel around the perimeter of the club that deepens the CoG, increasing ball, improving launch and adding yards to the carry. The new Speedback shaping uses two tungsten weights to increase MOI and these weights are split between the heel and toe to also improve stability giving a more predictable result. The E9 PWRSHELL face has a variable thickness backed by a 1.2mm Speed Channel for greater energy return meaning reduced power loss and greater distance.
